ABOUT THE SHOW

Dinner's on the table. The wine is poured. He should have been home hours ago.

One woman does her best to keep herself company as the evening stretches on and the truth becomes harder to ignore. What begins as an ordinary evening peels back the wallpaper of married life to reveal something far stranger and more unsettling beneath the surface.

Dinner's getting cold is a psychological thriller with flashes of humour, showcasing a darker side to the work of award-winning comedian and improviser Mamaeroa (Mo) Munn.

Recommended 16+. Contains coarse language, references to domestic violence and psychological abuse.

A NOTE FROM Mo

Full disclosure - I came up with the idea for this show on the day I was listening to Sheena Easton's banger Morning Train (Nine to Five) on repeat. Something about the idea of seeing a wife waiting for her husband to come home stuck in my mind (maybe I was home sick and bored out of my brain). And with the rise of tradwife trends and the bounce back of blatant sexism, I was fascinated by the resurgence of 'traditional roles and dynamics' - so I thought, let's explore this onstage. I also knew I wanted to make something that was starkly different than my comedy shows - so I did the insane thing of setting out to make this solo.

Since then, the story has taken on a bit of a life of its own and has become something more dark and twisted than I anticipated. But of course, I couldn't help myself, so I chucked some jokes in there too.

At the risk of explaining the whole show, I think I will leave it there. I'm not sure enjoy is the right word, but I hope you like the show!

I want to emphasise that this is a complete work of fiction.
